Sports is a means of physical and mental development besides creating harmony in the country. The participation in sports makes a nation fitter and reduces the burden of morbidity and mortality in the population. Keeping in view the fact that a fitter nation is better in performance in all parameters, Tamil Nādu Teachers Education University is conducting various sports and Cultural meets for Student teachers studying under the University at College, District and Zonal level. The following sports events 100mts, 400 mts, 800 mts running, Shotput, Javelin throw, Long jump, High jump and 4 x 100 mts relay and cultural events like Elocution competition, essay writing competition and music competition were conducted every year. The University has a Centre for Sports and Cultural Activities under the leadership Prof. M.Soundararajan, Director and Dr.R.Rajalakshmi, Deputy Director is coordinating the Sports and Cultural competitions every year.
